Privacy policy

This policy covers the Typelate app, iOS keyboard, AI service and this website.

Controller and contact

Typelate is operated by Opticae Consulting. For privacy questions or requests to access, correct or delete data, contact suporte@opticae.ai. Include the support code shown in the app; never send passwords, authentication codes or message contents to identify yourself.

What leaves your device

Regular typing without AI modes is processed on your device. Translate, Correct, Improve and Explain send the text, recent context needed for the response, languages, selected operations and tone to the Typelate server, which forwards them to Anthropic (Claude). Text may contain personal data about you or other people; we do not treat it as anonymous.

Your technical device identifier and access credential authenticate requests to Typelate and are not included in requests to Anthropic. With a mode enabled, sending may happen automatically as you type, activate a mode on existing text or return with a copied message. The keyboard respects the field and access restrictions imposed by iOS.

Your choice

iOS Full Access and permission to share with AI are separate choices. Before the first request, the app or keyboard identifies Anthropic and explains the data shared. Only “Allow sharing with Anthropic” grants permission. Closing the notice or choosing “Continue without AI” does not.

Withdraw permission in “Privacy and AI” in the app to block new AI requests while keeping regular typing available. Withdrawal does not automatically erase previously sent data or usage records; request deletion using the contact above. The consent version and date are stored in the shared app and keyboard storage.

Other data and purposes

The service stores an installation identifier, app and iOS versions, locale, registration and activity dates, plan, quotas and usage, cost, error and performance records. Technical logs may include IP addresses and device identifiers. These support service delivery, usage and abuse limits, troubleshooting and support.

Apple processes purchases. Typelate receives product and transaction identifiers, subscription status and dates to activate plans and restore purchases, not card numbers. The app may register a device to check plans and quotas without AI consent, without sending message text.

Optional Apple account and preferences

You can use Typelate without an account. Choosing “Continue with Apple” authenticates you with Apple. Typelate stores an app-specific Apple identifier, name and email when provided (including Apple private email), linked devices and their activity. We never receive your Apple password. Authorised support staff can view accounts and linked devices to provide assistance.

Sync is initially off and requires an explicit choice per account and device. It syncs only languages, favourites, modes and tone, never messages, quotas, purchases or AI permission. Turning it off keeps the server copy until account deletion. Signing out unlinks the device and clears its local sync consent.

Sessions last up to 30 days, remain in the app Keychain and are stored as hashes on the server. In “Your account” you can sign out, unlink devices and delete your account. Deletion requires fresh Apple authorisation and immediately removes name, email, preferences, sessions and device links. The Apple identifier and encrypted token remain only until Apple revocation completes; failures are retried. Signed Apple notifications invalidate revoked access.

Account deletion does not cancel Apple subscriptions or automatically erase operational device, usage, purchase and audit records. These records and backups follow the retention criteria below; contact us to request review and deletion. Authentication and account management deliver the requested service; sync depends on your choice and can be disabled in the app.

Retention

AI responses remain in the Typelate server’s memory cache for at most 10 minutes. Message text is not stored as permanent database history. Local preferences and credentials persist to operate the app.

Anthropic’s commercial policy normally deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, with legal and safety exceptions. Content flagged for policy violations may be retained for up to 2 years and safety classifications for up to 7 years. Commercial API data is not used for model training by default. We do not promise zero retention.

Installation, usage, subscription and audit records currently have no automatic age-based deletion. Retention and deletion requests are reviewed according to operational, security, support and applicable legal needs. Local backups rotate after 7 days; encrypted external backups have no automatic expiry. Deletion requests include review of those copies and justified exceptions. Withdrawing permission does not cancel Apple subscriptions.

Providers, security and transfers

We use Anthropic for AI, Apple for distribution and purchases, Vultr infrastructure for API hosting and Cloudflare for network services and encrypted backups. Sites/OpenAI and Cloudflare host this website. Providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. You can request information about recipients and applicable transfer safeguards.

Connections use HTTPS, app credentials use Keychain and administrative access is restricted. We do not sell message text or use it for advertising. Site code includes no advertising analytics; hosting may use technical cookies and access logs.

Legal bases and your rights

Sending content to AI depends on your permission. Data needed to deliver the service and manage purchases is processed to perform the service contract; security and abuse prevention rely on legitimate interests, and certain records may be required by law.

Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection, and withdraw consent without affecting prior processing. We may request proportionate proof that the device or data belongs to you. You can complain to Portugal’s CNPD or another competent data protection authority.

Changes and sources

Material changes to the data shared or AI provider require renewed permission in the app. See the provider policies below for current retention periods and exceptions.
